In the article, I wrote the following:

Arae Taikichi said something of a patent for the Altair, made difficult by the Asahiflex.

This is not very clear, and refers to a specific sentence which I don't understand perfectly, in the original article in Asahi Camera:

[after discussing the Asahiflex] 荒江氏の言によると、このアルテアの方が先に特許査定を受けたそうで、アサヒレフはこの特許にさしさわるといっている。

特許査定 is definitely a technical term for "patent grant". I understand that Arae should have been granted a patent for the Altair, but the release of the Asahiflex blocked the process because it created a conflicting precedent. I'd like someone to confirm my interpretation of the Japanese sentence; then I could fix my own sentence. --rebollo_fr 14:03, 2 June 2009 (EDT)
